Shri. Mani Shankar Aiyar is member of the Rajya Sabha from the Congress Party. A former diplomat turned politician, he is a three-time Lok Sabha Member and the first Union Minister for Panchayati Raj from 2004-2009.
Mr. Aiyar is a strong proponent of Panchayati Raj and decentralization and has written extensively on the subject. He was also the Chairman of the Twentieth anniversary report on leveraging Panchayats titled Towards Holistic Panchayat Raj”.
Shri D R Patil is a fervent rural development practitioner and an engineer by training. He is General Secretary of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee. He was a member of the Panchayat Raj Review Committee to recommend amendments to The Karnataka Panchayat Raj Act, 1993. From 1987 to 1992, he was Zilla Parishad member from Dharwad. He is also a four-time Member of the Legislative Assembly.
Shri. C Narayanaswamy was Member of Parliament from Bangalore North. He has keen interest in Panchayati Raj and rural development. He was the President of Bangalore Zilla Parishad and member of the Central Advisory Committee in the Ministry of Panchayati Raj during UPA (I). He was also a member of the Panchayat Raj Review Committee to recommend amendments to The Karnataka Panchayat Raj Act,1993.
Shri. V Y Ghorpade is a social activist with an engineering background. He is a Secretary of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee. He was a member of the Panchayat Raj Review Committee to recommend amendments to The Karnataka Panchayat Raj Act, 1993. He was also the President of the Bellary Zilla Panchayat.
Ms. Jarjum Ete is a social activist and at present an honorary President of the Arunachal Pradesh unit of the Indian Council of Child Welfare.She was the first Chairperson of The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women from 2005 to 2008. She headed the Panchayat Mahila Shakti Abhiyaan program for the Ministry of Panchayati Raj.
Dr. G Palanithurai is Professor at Gandhigram Rural Institute and specializes in grassroots democracy, decentralized governance and development management. He has published 66 books and 156 articles in various journals. He has instituted a leadership school within Rajiv Gandhi Chair for Panchayat Studies, through which he has trained a number of elected PRI representatives. He was involved in Tamil Nadu State Planning and Finance Commissions in various capacities.
Shri Baldev Singh is Pradhan of Noni Gram Panchayat of Solan Tehsil in Himachal Pradesh.
